2016-02-23 22:25 I see how internet it’s ending in a new cable TV for corporations, and I remember the sense of suffocating I had when 15 y.o. At those time, we had nothing. A modem from IBM was costing the equivalent of 1200$. A DECnet or BanyanVines server was costing too much for us. So we started to buy a newspaper which was publishing “kits” , “Nuova Elettronica”, and we bild our own modems. 300BAUD. WOW. And SIP (the state owned company ) was writing in the contract they could have quit the contract if we used a modem (which they called “scrambler” at those times) on their lines. Then we miss the software. So it appeared AmiNET for Amiga, and then Lora, and then FidoNET : a worldwide BBS network built on modems. (google for FidonET if you don’t believe). Why we did all of that? Because we felt suffocating. We felt suffocating in our small villages, in our little circles of friends, in our lazy society. This was the point: suffocating.
Now on the internet I feel again like that. And I see more and more people which starts to feel like that. Right now we don’t have a general idea like FidoNET, but I see ideas , which are brainstorming. I think gnunet and Tor are just the first attempt. So, when I see all that corporations trying to suffocate people, I just smile. Yes, do it. Awake the suffocating people. Once again. https://boseburo.ddns.net/fnord/url/6358

  1. Qui casca l’asino: “So it appeared AmiNET for Amiga, and then Lora, and then FidoNET : a worldwide BBS network built on modems”.
